Fundraisers & Sponsorship
The Faith Formation department is challenging the students to grow deeper in knowledge and understanding of their faith and to also complete a minimum of 40 Works of Mercy hours for Confirmation. In order to do this, certain programs have been set in place; for example – the Dead Theologians Society, the Teens For Christ Leadership team, and the ACTIVE program.
The youth program at St. Francis Xavier is growing and developing at a steady pace and with that there is a financial need growing along with it.
As the Director of youth ministry, I assure you that I am doing what I can to keep costs down and create programs that are self sustaining. However, there are a number of youth that are unable to participate in certain activities due to the financial cost to the family of some of these events.
I would like to share the different ways that you as member of our parish family can help to financially support the youth of our parish. As always, the best support that you can offer is continual prayers!
Fundraisers
Can Trailer
Yes, we still have the can trailer, it’s just not very visible for two reasons. First reason is that in the past the trailer has been stolen, the cans recycled, and the trailer returned to the parish empty. The second reason is the wind is so strong that when the trailer is close to being full, the cans start blowing all over the grounds.
So the trailer has been moved into the white fence attached to the shed behind the Education center next to the garage. You can simply toss your bag of aluminum cans over the fence into the trailer. The youth are working on a sign to hang on the fence.
Mystic Monk Coffee
This is a new fundraiser that supports the Carmelite order of Monks in Wyoming. They sell their special blend of coffee to raise money to build their monastery. I chose this as one of our fundraisers because all of the money will either go to help our youth or to help support vocations. The youth will be taking orders and then after that we will set up a program where you can go online and reorder more of your favorite coffee and the youth group will continue to earn money year round.
Sponsorship
There are two opportunities for sponsorship mentioned below. The benefit to sponsorship verses fundraising is that 100% of your money goes directly to the youth that you are sponsoring. If you would like to sponsor a youth for a trip or for leadership please contact Debbie Gladitsch at 763-684-0075 x110 or Debbie.gladitsch@stfxb.org . Any amount is accepted and appreciated; please help more youth to participate in the opportunities that are offered here at St. Francis Xavier to encourage them along in the faith journey.
Leadership team
The leadership team meets one to two times per month; during their meetings they study the lives of the saints and are encouraged to emulate that lifestyle towards their path of holiness. Along with growing deeper in their faith the leadership team is responsible for leading and guiding their peers into a more meaningful relationship with Christ. The cost for each member is $35 per year, and a one time fee of $35. There are currently 17 members of the leadership team.
Mission trips/ Steubenville North Conference
The cost for trips differs depending on the location and length of trip. On each of these trips the youth will experience and be exposed to the beauty of the Catholic faith first hand; including the Sacraments.
Our current trips are:
Middle School Mission Kamp - $100
High School Mission Trip - $395
Steubenville North Conference - $255
