Liturgical Ministries

There are a number of different opportunities for liturgical ministries in our parish. All of these ministries are important because they help people to have a wonderful worship experience. If you are interested in any of these ministries or have any questions, contact the parish office. We will forward your name to the head of these ministries and they will contact you. Below you will find a brief description of each of these ministries.

Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion

Eucharistic ministers are commissioned for three years by the pastor and are scheduled to distribute Holy Communion at weekend and holy day Masses. A candidate for extraordinary minister of Holy Communion should be:

  • Fully initiated which means you are baptized and have received the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the Sacrament of Confirmation
  • A mature age
  • Understand the Catholic Churches teaching on the Eucharist
  • Be in good standing with the Church and be outstanding in Christian life, in faith and in morals

Lector

Anyone who is a confirmed Catholic, 16 years of age or older is eligible to become a lector. Lectors are scheduled to read at one Mass about every 14 weeks. Those who desire to be a lector, you should be comfortable with speaking in front of a congregation and should be able to proclaim God’s word with confidence and clarity. Training is provided.

Altar Server

Any baptized Catholic ten years of age or older can be an altar server. This is a very important ministry because the priest depends on altar servers who are confident and knowledgeable about their duties. Training sessions are provided throughout the year.

Music Ministry

Our parish has a deep commitment to providing quality music. You can check out our webpage about all the different types of music ministry. If you are interested in becoming a part of the music ministry, please contact our Director of Music.

Ushers

The ushers are often the first person that a person will encounter when coming to Mass. Ushers are expected to be able to greet parishioners with kindness and to help seat them if needed. They take up the collections and hand out the bulletins after Mass. They also help with any clean up that is necessary after Mass. Training is provided.
