Funerals

The death of a loved one is a time of great loss. It is during times like these that we turn to our faith in Jesus Christ. Our faith assures us of the promise of eternal life given by Jesus Christ. There are often many questions about what to do in the event of a death. The guidelines below should help guide you through the decisions that you have to make.

Guidelines

  1. Contact the funeral director of your choice. In Buffalo, the Peterson Chapel can be reached at 763.682.1363.

  2. The funeral director will contact the parish office to schedule the time for the funeral Mass. The family should contact the parish office to schedule a meeting with the pastor to plan the funeral liturgy.

  3. If you have not purchased a cemetery plot and would like to use the parish cemetery, contact the parish office at 763.684.0075, ext 100. Otherwise, the funeral director will assist you in finding a place for burial.

Funeral Mass

The Mass can be celebrated on any day of the week except Sunday. The normal funeral Mass time is at 10:00 a.m. If you would like to have a visitation one hour prior to the Mass in the church, please let the funeral director know so he can work out the details with the pastor. The burial usually takes place immediately after the Mass unless arranged otherwise.

When you meet with the pastor to plan the funeral liturgy, he will guide you through all the decisions that you have to make. You will be asked to select the readings, the music, the lectors, and the gift bearers.

Luncheon

A luncheon after the funeral can be arranged with the parish office for a nominal fee. The luncheon will take place in the parish hall.
