A Day in Pre-School

With an academic emphasis, it is our endeavor to make each day at Preschool an exciting and fun-filled experience for our children. The day includes many activities, and utilizes various methods to ensure that the objectives of our Preschool are met.

Preschool is a wonderful avenue for assisting children in making the transition from home to school, developing their socialization and learning skills in a group setting.

Our Preschool children develop an awareness of God in the world about them, and pray each day. They learn to explore their environment throughout the various seasons of the year.  An awareness of readiness concepts in math, social and natural sciences is evident.  Familiarization with numbers and letters is promoted.  An appreciation for literature is fostered through the development of listening skills, and being able to recall and retell details of their stories and videos.  Auditory and visual discrimination are evident as they progress through the year. Children also engage in various forms of gross motor activities. And throughout the day, they are encouraged to be responsible for sharing, cleanup, and being good friends with all their classmates.

These many objectives are accomplished through free play, circle time, show and tell, use of themes, stories, videos, and action-related games and activities. The children are engaged in songs, role playing, and a variety of manipulatives including puppets, crayons, flannel boards, clay, puzzles, painting, scissors, paste, beads, etc. Creative play, use of the sensory table, rhythm, movement, dance, and/or outdoor activities are all part of the daily routine.

The children also enjoy a healthy snack each day. They apply good health practices through proper toileting and hand washing.  And at day’s end, the children again help with cleanup, and work at dressing properly for going home.
